Director of Care
POSITION: Director of Care (Full Time)
POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Care is responsible for providing leadership and management of the nursing care department. All care must be provided in conformance with guidelines established by the Ministry of Health Long-Term Care (MOHLTC), Bennett Centre guidelines, policies and procedures, and guidelines by the College of Nurses of Ontario. The Director is a member of the Leadership Team and provides critical thinking, strategic planning and problem solving.
REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer
DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
– Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BScN) or Registered Nurse Diploma.
– Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Experience:
– At least five (5) years of experience working as a registered nurse in the long-term care sector.
– At least three (3) years of experience working as a registered nurse in a managerial role or supervisory capacity in a health care setting preferred.
Abilities:
– Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
– Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
– Labour Relations experience a definite asset.
– Advanced computer skills for report writing, data analysis, and financial budgeting (accounting) skills.
– Ability to adapt to changing and emerging care practices is also required
